VOLUNTEER

Kosher Meals on Wheels            Telephone Reassurance            Friendly Visitor           JFS Food Pantry           Professional Services           Mitzvah Projects/Community Service

Ranging in age from 12 to 80+, our over 150 volunteers deliver Kosher Meals on Wheels and Shabbat Meals, are Friendly Visitors to the homebound, call seniors as part of the Telephone Reassurance Program, help in our after school program and are among our dedicated Trustees.  Volunteers are at the core of our services and at the heart of everything we do.

Research has shown that those who volunteer lead healthier and happier lives.

We, at Jewish Family and Children's Services of Northern New Jersey are empowered to help the number of people we do because of the invaluable assistance of our many volunteers.

How You Can Help?

  • Deliver Kosher Meals on Wheels to the homebound,

  • Call a lonely senior with Telephone Reassurance,

  • Be a Friendly Visitor and spend time with an isolated neighbor,

  • Donate food and household items to the JFS Food Pantries, and help with one of our monthly pickups,

  • Club Ed Homework Assistance - provide homework help and activities to elementary school children in our daily afterschool program,

  • Assist with set up, registration, serving, socialization and clean up for Cafe Europa, our twice monthly luncheon for Holocaust survivors,

  • Offer your pro-bono Professional Services,

  • Let JFS help you with your Mitzvah/Community Service Project,

  • Make a financial donation,

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is run by the agency in Bergen County to help get volunteers 55 and older out in to the community to give back. Programs which utilize RSVP volunteers include Kosher Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visitor and Telephone Reassurance. In addition we train some RSVP volunteers in how to prepare for and respond to disasters in the local area.
