    Kosher Meals on Wheels

Volunteer drivers deliver a box of seven frozen kosher meals to clients in Bergen and Passaic counties. Drivers typically deliver once a week to between one and five clients in a small geographic area that is convenient to them. There is also a need for dedicated substitute volunteers who are willing to take over routes for shorter periods while regular drivers are sick/away.

        Friendly Visitors

The Friendly Visitor program is designed to provide socialization to homebound, isolated seniors who may not otherwise receive many visits or have much contact with people outside of the care that is provided to them. Friendly Visitors go to the client’s home, usually once a week for about an hour, and spend time chatting with the client, or sometimes doing other activities like playing games or a musical instrument.

            Cooking Companions

Cooking Companions prepare a home cooked meal for a homebound senior twice a month and share the meal with the client in the client’s home. This program is intended to promote good nutrition, as well as to provide socialization over a delicious meal, a format that many seniors particularly enjoy. Ingredient costs are reimbursed to the volunteer by the agency.
