Through the wide array of services offered by the Agency, students have the opportunity to gain exceptionally broad skills and knowledge. They work with individuals of all ages and of diverse cultural, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds in different settings (school, office, and home) using various modalities (individual, family and group). Students take part in many facets of the work at the Agency. In addition to engaging in clinical work or case management, they are involved in the Agency’s performance quality improvement process and participate in community outreach.
JFCS provides interns quality supervision by experienced professionals who are committed to their development. A comprehensive training curriculum, including presentations, case studies and discussions, is also key to their learning. Students’ training experience is further enhanced by their full integration with JFCS staff, both within the physical work environment and by their participation in general staff meetings, counseling case conferences and case management team meetings. JFCS strives to provide a learning experience pivotal in successfully guiding students toward their prospective social work careers.
